01 August 2018

“Road construction takes long processes and it is time-consuming and costly. And because of this, asphalt road maintenance is crucial to avoid bigger operational costs from complete rework. One of the ways to avoid such big costs is to select the right method in the road rehabilitation”.

Besides the age of the road, several factors, among other, heavy traffic, weather, humidity, sunlight, and temperature may also affect the decrease in road quality. So far, neither Indonesian government nor private institutions have put maximum effort for the road rehabilitation, with the roads having recently been rehabilitated but very soon retuning to its old condition.

Recently rehabilitated road have only lasted for three months to one year and the quality delivered was not worth the budget though the disbursed budget was quite big. Having said this, well-selected heavy equipment and method are needed for such rehabilitation. PT United Tractors Tbk (UT), heavy equipment distributor in Indonesia, introduces German’s Bomag Cold which is Bomag pavers: Bomag Milling BM 2000/60-2 as a solution for the road rehabilitation.

If not, stabilizer/recycle or MPH may be used first to stabilize the damaged road.
