Scania Fleet Management Services; Take control of your fleet – and lower your costs
Distance and high mobility have been a distinct challenge for businessmen especially for those in the passenger and goods transportation sector to monitor condition of the vehicle. Added to that, many operational factors require specific monitoring as these factors affect the profitability very much amidst competitive business condition. To address the above challenges, Scania is giving the telematics system solution with the state-of-the-art technology.
The Scania Fleet Management Services (FMS) is a telematics device that facilitates one-way communication between a Scania truck with the user, enabling the latter to know position and condition of the vehicle more completely and real time by accessing the portal of the Scania FMS. The user can monitor the vehicle directly from their smartphone installed with the application.
Until 2016, Scania has applied this system in 250,000 trucks and buses all over the world. The system works by monitoring the vehicle by the satellite later relaying the information gathered to Scania’s server before it is sent to the portal accessible by the user. To gather the information needed, each Scania vehicle is installed with a Scania Communicator which collects, evaluates, and transmits data. In addition to that, the driver is equipped with a Driver ID Button directly connected to the Scania Communicator.
Features and Service
Features and services offered by the Scania FMS are Monitoring Package and Control Package. For the Monitoring Package, a user will receive the vehicle data at the end of week, month, and year. The report contains summary of several key indicators generated from the vehicle like fuel consumption, CO₂ emission, driving trends like speed, hard braking, and idling. All data are summarized and reported based on the designated time period.
The Control Package provides the same features and services given by Monitoring Package plus Traffic Lights Report (on the driver and vehicle performance for a designated period), Performance Trend Report (a graphic report on the driver on a designated period), Environmental Report (on emission), Exception Report (on violation or vehicle warning), Maintenance Planning (calendar for maintenance and reminder of the time spent or distance covered, or both). The Control Package includes Fleet Position which points out the location and actual status of the vehicle updated every 10 minutes; Vehicle Tracking which shows historically selected position of the vehicle on a desired period; and Geofence Alarm which sets off the alarm if the vehicle enters a non-predetermined zone.
Advantages of Scania FMS for Customer
