To preserve the heavy equipment in its excellent condition, several aspects should be observed by an operator as user and one of these aspects is the routine maintenance. Just like a vehicle used daily for 5.5 hours by those with high mobility living in big cities, this vehicle must be maintained to minimize risks of breakdown by taking special care of oil replacement, radiator water, and use of the transmission.

Routine Maintenance of Excavator
An operator of a heavy equipment with a daily operation of more than ten hours must take preventive measures to extend its economic life time. To avoid breakdown such as low performance, high fuel consumption, easily heated engine, all leading to engine failure, in this article is discussing about tips and tricks in routine maintenance of an excavator.

• Observe cleanliness of the oil
  Cleanliness of the oil is the first to be observed as the oil as it will affect several important parts such as the filter and the engine, and also the excavator performance. In addition to that, dirty oil will also make the filter wear out soon, easily heat the engine, and lower the performance. To avoid these from happening, replace the oil routinely.
• Observe oil level
  To maintain the level of hydraulic oil or the engine oil, be sure that the level does not fall below the standard level as lack of the oil can cause the oil flow to stutter, resulting in low performance of the excavator.
• Replace air cleaner
  Replacement of the air cleaner is important to keep air inflow clean and free from dust (and fine particles). A dirty air cleaner can damage components and result in high fuel consumption due to imperfect combustion.
• Be sure that fuel filter is closed tightly.
  The fuel filter not tightly closed can do damage to the engine. For that reason, it is extremely important to keep the fuel filter tightly closed. Also, be sure to dispose dirty water resulting from diesel fuel residue to keep the filter from being immersed in the dirty water.
