Officially announced in November 2021, the Mandalika circuit is ready to host world-class racing events. Starting with the World SBK on November 2021, the MotoGP 2022 will also be held next March 2022. Located in the Mandalika Special Economic Zone, Central Lombok Regency, West Nusa Tenggara, the circuit is named Pertamina Mandalika International Street Circuit.
This international class circuit is built on 1,035.67 hectares, with a circuit length of 4.31 km and has a total of 17 bends consisting of 11 right-hand corners and six left-hand corners. Around the circuit, there are spectator stands that can accommodate around 150,000 to 200,000 people. It consists of a grandstand seating capacity of more than 50,000 seats and standing stands that accommodate up to 138,000 spectators.
The construction of an international circuit requires specific materials and equipment. According to the Indonesia Tourism Development Corporation, the Mandalika Circuit uses an asphalt technology called Stone Mastic Asphalt (SMA). SMA is an asphalt mixture used to coat the top surface of the asphalt.
